Recently we have started paying more attention to folks’ thoughts on the shop. The comments vary greatly, from, “At last, a store that isn’t selling t-shirts,” to “You have the most unique stuff,” to “This is the nicest store in Gatlinburg!”
We were wondering what your opinions and thoughts are. Comment back and give us some feedback on how you think we are doing with our inventory, our customer service, and our website. We look forward to hearing back from you.

We have finished counting inventory and are moving forward, here at the Silver Galleon, to clean the corners, refill our shelves, and load up our cases with Sterling Silver that has turquoise, coral and other natural settings; made by the Native Americans from the Southwest. The artists are Navajo, Zuni and Hopi silversmiths. Silver is still higher than years gone by, but it has not affected most of our pieces. We continue to be fair with our pricing, as do our artists. This year we boast of starting our 39th year, thanks to all our friends and customers. Our goal this year is to further develop our website and add some new items from other artists. We found a Cherokee carver that will have some work in our shop soon. Andi is doing fine (being pregnant and all), she is a bit tired, but with good reason. Be sure to give us your desires as to what you want to see on our site. It really helps to know what to photo and load. This (January) is a slower month, so Andi will be doing her thing again, soon. THANKS for your support!

We, at the Silver Galleon, wish all of you a happy new year! We are thrilled to have you folks as customers, but much more than customers, you are our FRIENDS! This is a time of new beginnings, we are counting inventory (for taxes, yes) but we are on the gathering mode for this coming year. Our buyers and pickers are gearing up to have some outstanding Zuni, Navajo, Hopi silver work. Our crafters are working on items from flutes to wall hangings, so get ready for some one-of-a-kind treasures. We are looking to add several new lines of merchandise, also. On a personal note, Jacob and Andi are expecting their second child this September, so Marcia and I will be able to spoil another grandkid. I already know what I will call him (or her), Tater! That will give us a T-bone and a Tater. We thank you for a GREAT 2011, and look forward to your visits in 2012. Continue to let us know what you want to see on the web site, as Andi is working hard to put new items up.

The tree is up and the lights are turned on. Christmas has arrived in Gatlinburg. The city is covered in lights for their annual Winterfest. It makes for a fantastic drive in the evening. The streets are busy with folks buying their last minute presents.
The week after Christmas is always a busy one for us. Families head our way to enjoy their holiday vacation here. If you are one of those familes, make sure you stop in and say hello.
We are excited for Christmas this year. Tobin, the grandson, is a year and a half, so it will be a little more fun to watch him opening up his gifts. He doesn’t know it, but I’ll be showing up as Santa to add to the fun.
Wishing you all a festive and happy holiday season. Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good price!

This piece is an attention grabber. It is very traditional Navajo work. The eagle is the centerpiece of the bracelet, surrounded with leaves and decorative filigree. The cuff is made of sterling silver. At the widest point, the bracelet is 1 1/2 inches. It measures 7 inches tip to tip.
Bracelet Sizing Guide
Tips to order the proper fitting bracelet:
• Using a flexible tape, wrap it completely around your wrist where the bracelet is to be worn.
• Add approximately add 3/4 inch to 1 inch to the measurement, and that is the measurement that you need.
• Many bracelets are adjustable and can be bent to size, generally Navajo style work.
• Bracelets with inlaid stones cannot be opened or closed without potential damage to the stones, so you want the exact measurement needed to fit your wrist. The silver tips can be adjusted for a better fit.

At the Silver Galleon we are serious about finding high quality Native American products. We have been around long enough to know where to find the true artists, and have had the privilege of meeting many of them in person.
In jewelry we carry the work of many well known Zuni artists, such as Don Dewa, Effie Calavaza, Benjamin Tzuni, Robert Leekya, Pat Leekitty, and Bobby Shack. We also have several pieces by Calvin Begay, David Rosales, and John Nelson, who are all Navajo artists. Ben Mansfield, Floyd Lomakuyvaya, and Ronald Wadsworth are some of our more prominent Hopi craftsmen.
When it comes to dreamcatchers no one compares to work of Tony Cucumber, a local Cherokee artist. Billy Reynolds is another Cherokee craftsman, who specializes in weaponry, such as, bows, spears, knives, and clubs. David Parker, a Cherokee, is a traditional stone carver, who primarily carves pipes.
If you would like to see the work of any particular artist, please let us know and we will post the pieces that we have.

I am not sure who wrote “be the friend you want to have” first, but it is a cool concept. Over the past month or so, we have seen more and more folks snapping at their spouses, being hateful to their kids, and just walking around with an attitude of “selfishness”. I can’t say it is our economey, political statis or point blame at anyone or anything because selfishness is…about self. If we all would just treat others like we want to be treated this whole world would run smoother. Countries, governments, politics and economy would be humming right along, in the manner it should. HECK, folks might just stop in and pick up some of our authentic Native American jewelry, pottery, or wall hangings due to being so happy. Honestly, lets put an effort to being “nice” the next few weeks, afterall, Christmas isn’t far away.
